From the 2026 reference year, Statistik Austria has introduced significant changes to Intrastat reporting thresholds. These updates will impact companies engaged in intra-EU trade with Austria.

New Intrastat Thresholds Applicable from 2026

Starting with the 2026 financial year, the following Intrastat thresholds will apply:

Arrivals Threshold (Imports into Austria)

  • New threshold: EUR 5,000,000
  • Previous threshold: EUR 1,100,000

Dispatches Threshold (Exports from Austria)

  • New threshold: EUR 1,200,000
  • Previous threshold: EUR 1,100,000

Intrastat Reporting Obligations: Who Is Affected?

Businesses that did not exceed the following thresholds in 2025 will be exempt from Intrastat reporting obligations in 2026:

  • EUR 5,000,000 for arrivals
  • EUR 1,200,000 for dispatches

This exemption simplifies compliance for many companies with lower trade volumes.

What Happens If You Exceed the Threshold in 2026?

If your company exceeds one of the thresholds during 2026:

  • Reporting starts from the month the threshold is exceeded
  • The obligation applies only to the relevant trade flow (arrivals or dispatches)
