What is an AEO – Authorised Economic Operator?
An AEO, or Authorised Economic Operator, is a status granted by the customs authorities of an EU Member State to businesses that meet strict criteria in terms of customs compliance, financial solvency, and supply chain security. It is a trusted trader certification, recognised across the European Union and internationally, designed to facilitate secure and efficient international trade.
This status is intended for all players in the international supply chain – importers, exporters, freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents, and logistics providers – who must strictly comply with AEO chain requirements.
